The Girls Soccer team opened defense of their 2012-13 Frontier League Championship by defeating Villanova Prep 4-1 on the road on Tuesday. The Girls return to action on Thursday traveling to Bishop Diego for a Frontier League match, kick-0ff is set for 3:15 PM. The Lady Seraphs are currently ranked # 8 in the CIF-SS Division 6 poll.
The Boys Varsity Soccer team opened up Frontier League play with a 7-2 victory at home over Villanova Prep. Freshman Alejandro Ramirez led the way with a pair of goals and an assist. Robert Goyette also picked up a pair of goals. Rounding out the scoring were single goals scored by Sam Pantoja, Michael Frank and Nick Parvex. The JVs also opened up league on the right end of a 6-0 score.
At Ventura County Classic
St. Bonaventure: Tommy Quinn scored a team-high 16 points and Bryce Dixon added 12. The Seraphs play Agoura on Wednesday at Oak Park.
Record: St. Bonaventure 3-2.
The Boys Cross Country team finished their season yesterday at Woodward Park in Fresno at the CIF State Cross Country Meet. Competing in the State Meet for only the third time in school history the Seraph boys finished an impressive 7th in the state for Division 5.
The team broke many school records, Junior Isaiah Lozano finished 9th in the state with a time of 16:05, the highest a Seraph has finished at the State Meet and the lowest time at Woodward Park. Breaking both Anthony Allen’s (2011 20th place) and George Morris’ (2003 11th place) time of 16:17 school records. The team time of 85:08 placed them ahead of rival Thacher School and also set a school team record time, previous top team time was the 2003 team with a time of 85:48. The team is led by seniors Andy Kaisier, Chrisitan Gil, Joe Cook, Michael Dufresne and Sonny Vigil. JoJo Sandoval and Andrew Garcia also contributed to the success of the team. One of the most impressive feats of the day was all team members families made the drive to Fresno to cheer the team on! That is what we call F.A.M.I.L.Y!!
The boys XC team advanced to the CIF-SS finals for the second year in a row. The team was led by Isaiah Lozano and Christian Gil. The team finished with the fourth fasted time in Division 5. The team will race this Saturday at Mt SAC at 10:25am. If they are one of the top 7 teams they will become only the third St Bonaventure XC team to run at the California State Meet.
The Varsity Boys Basketball team fell to 1-1 in TVL league play after losing 45-48 in Santa Barbara to Bishop Diego on Wednesday night. The Seraphs led most of the way but were outscored 22-8 in the final quarter to suffer the defeat. Tommy Quinn led all scorers with 14 while Bryce Dixon added 12. The Seraphs return to action on Friday in their season home opener hosting Oaks Christian with a 7 PM tip-off
